Our Safer Communities Project runs on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm and is a project which aims to tackle youth violence. Some of the issues we are tackling are knife crime, antisocial behaviour, the consequences of carrying a weapon and the joint enterprise law and how it can affect young people who are not even associated with gangs. Due to the huge increase in youth violence during 2016 Birmingham Settlement have launched a project called ‘Respect a life drop a knife’. The aim is to reduce knife crime and the carrying of knives and raising awareness around gang culture, anti-social behaviour and youth exclusion to name a few. Birmingham Settlement will be delivering workshops and equipping people with the tools to be able to help tackle and highlight the issues that arise.
