Community Action

Working closely with local residents, we deliver and develop a range of community action and wellbeing services which are tailored to yours and your community’s needs. This is a broad area of our work, aiming to get people involved and engaged with the local area.

This is delivered through a wide range of wellbeing services including specific men and women’s programmes, fitness sessions and social activities – providing the opportunity to engage at a higher level through volunteering.

Women’s Group

When our learners of previous ESOL classes at the Settlement wanted to stay in touch and continue developing their English language skills, we introduced our ‘Women of Witton’ programme, aiming to empower local women and keep them connected to their community. This group meets regularly at our ‘Women’s Coffee and Conversation group.’

Activity sessions are open to all offering the chance to meet other people from the local community and learn new skills. In these sessions the group undertake activities including knitting and fitness classes.

The group also enjoys trips outside of the local community and often organised their own events and activities to share skills and learn from each other.

Men’s Group

Our Men’s programme was established in 2019 to provide opportunities and a space for local men to meet up  at our 610 Kingstanding Community Centre, socialise and get involved in activities, workshops, trips and events throughout the year.

The programme is driven by its members through forums which shape future activities and give local residents the chance to have a say in what goes on in their local community.

Based on this feedback the programme established a range of weekly activities including tai chi, boxercise, chess & dominoes and a walking group. The programme is subject to continuous change based on the changing needs of those involved.

Health and Wellbeing Forum

Our Health & Wellbeing Forum provides a space for you get together with other local people and take part in a whole host of activities and workshops that will improve your health and wellbeing.
