Children & Families

Our dedicated Little Settlers team deliver activities to support the wellbeing and development of children (0-5s) and their families, parents or carers.

Using the Early Years Foundation Stage, sessions include reading, writing, singing and sensory play to promote the social, emotional and personal development of children.

Families also have the opportunity to build valuable peer and community support networks.

Little Settlers Stay, Learn & Play – Kingstanding

Our Little Settlers Kingstanding sessions are open to children 0-5 and their parents/carers. We provide two Little Settlers sessions every week – including during school holidays.

Sessions are free, and are designed to support learning, improve English skills, develop social skills and to support children’s learning at home too.

Sessions take place every Tuesday & Thursday 10am-12pm.

Little Settlers Nature Club – Edgbaston Reservoir

Held at our Nature & Wellbeing Centre, Little Settlers Nature Club provides learning, exploration and play in an outdoor environment.

Sessions are free, and are designed to help children and their parents/carers spend more time outdoors to benefit from connection to nature – and each other.

In cold or adverse weather, sessions take place inside our sheltered geodesic learning domes – a great experience for all!

Sessions run every Tuesday 10am – 12pm.

Support for Children and their Families

Little Settlers also offers a valuable source of support for the wider family, parents and carers – giving the chance to meet other parents, develop friendships and support networks, increase confidence and find ways to support children’s learning at home.

Parents/carers can also access and be sign-posted into our additional services such as Money Advice and Community Action.

What Our Families Think

feedback from our Little Settlers sessions provides a valuable indication of the positive impact this service has on our local communities.

Stay and Play has been fantastic for my little one. He and I enjoy it so much. It helped my little one to socialize more and learn to share.

|

We’ve been coming to the play sessions for a couple of years now and honestly, I don’t know where we would be without the staff here. The kids love coming here and are always so excited and have so much fun.

|

Before attending Play and Stay sessions, I was very nervous about taking my child into an environment with other children. After attending a few sessions [my child] felt very comfortable, at ease and looked forward to the sessions.

|

Stay and Play has given my daughter an opportunity to be more vocal and mix with other children. It has given her a lot of confidence and given her the ability to share. She plays with a wide range of things that she wouldn’t usually play with at home.

|

Stay and Play is really good. My child really enjoys to come here. Staff are really friendly and helpful.

Today was my Imtiaz’s first day of Pre School. A new chapter of his life begins. Many many thanks to Stay and Play as it helped him be more confident and independent. Thanks to Stay and Play he settled in very well today.
