Disability Awareness
Half day / 3.5 hours
According to the World Health Organization, approximately one billion people worldwide live with some form of disability. Most of us will be impacted by disability at some point in our lives; be that by caring for a disabled family member, or through the direct experience of disability ourselves (temporary or permanent)
This half day training course (3.5 hours) will explore the subject of disability with the aim that greater awareness can help us all create environments that are more inclusive and empowering for those living with a disability.
The training will include: defining disability, disability as a social construct, non-visible disabilities, barriers facing those with disabilities (including bias and discrimination) and the positive actions and reasonable adjustments we all can make to create more inclusive and less discriminatory environments.
