 Our team are based at our hubs across Birmingham in
Newtown, Ladywood and Kingstanding.

 

Martin Holcombe – Chief Executive

Joining the Settlement nearly 20 years ago as HR Manager, Martin then became our Chief Exec in 2006. Martin manages and develops the operations of the Settlement to ensure we achieve what we set out to do and that our work aligns with our strategic objectives and vision.

Sukhdeep Gill – Finance & Corporate Affairs Manager

Sukhdeep has over 20 years’ experience in accounts management, she joined us in 2004. As well as leading our finance functions, Sukhdeep is responsible for our places and spaces including managing our buildings, three charity shops and general infrastructure of the Settlement.

Jelena Dukic – Money Advice Services Manager

Jelena first worked with the Settlement in 2013 as a Money Adviser and returned to us in 2019 in a Supervisor role. In 2020 she became our Money Advice Services Manager, leading on our debt and benefit advice services, financial literacy and learning and ensures our compliance and quality for our money advice services contracts.

  Lizzie Forrester – Income & Communications Manager

Lizzie joined us in 2023 and has over 15 years’ experience of developing the VCSE sector. Lizzie oversees our fundraising, looking at ways to develop our organisational sustainability through new opportunities, together with growing collaborations and partnerships. Lizzie also leads on our social media, external comms and marketing.

Sam Marsh – Nature & Wellbeing Centre Manager

Sam joined in August 2023, after 10 years as director of a Community Interest Company in East Birmingham, he has over 20 years of management experience in homelessness, substance & alcohol misuse, and mental health around Birmingham. Sam is passionate about the community, nature, and the outdoors!

 

Alex Howell – Sports & Community Centre Manager

Alex joined Birmingham Settlement in 2025 after nine years as Sandwell Arts Officer and two years as Community Engagement Officer for West Smethwick Park National Lottery Heritage Fund. With extensive experience, Alex has worked with various organisations, supporting adults with learning disabilities, acquired brain injuries, and mental health needs, as well as children and young adults in education.
