Birmingham City Council is working with Birmingham Settlement and Citizens Advice Birmingham to offer free, face-to-face advice at selected libraries across the city, bringing support closer to where people live.

What we can help with

You can get free, confidential advice on:

  • Benefits and what you’re entitled to

  • Housing and money problems (rent, arrears, budgeting)

  • Forms and appeals and navigating complex systems

Our trained advisers will offer practical, tailored support based on your needs.

Where to find us

Money advice is available at the following libraries by appointment only, aside from Library of Birmingham where a drop-in service is available:

*Please note: Quinton (Friday) and Birchfield (Tuesday) sessions are delivered by our partner organisation.

How to book

You can be referred by:

  • Council teams or Contact Centre staff

Or you can book directly by visiting one of the libraries listed above. Please note: Appointments must be booked in advance, there is no drop-in service, except at the Library of Birmingham. If an adviser is available, staff may help you access support or self-help options.
