Join us for Stride for the Settlement – a 5k or 10k sponsored walk or run around the Edgbaston Reservoir, helping to raise funds to build our new Green Barn community space at the Nature & Wellbeing Centre!

WHAT IS IT?

On Saturday 12th September 2026, join us for a sponsored run or walk around Edgbaston Reservoir! You can choose to do either a 5K (approximately 2 laps of the Reservoir) or 10K (approximately 4 laps of the Reservoir) journey, where you will be raising funds to support building our Green Barn community space.

After completing your walk or run, join us at the Nature & Wellbeing Centre for a Family Fun Day of stalls, activities, games, and more for all the family to enjoy. Refuel with a bite from the Red Shed, take part in traditional fete games, and celebrate your achievement knowing that you have supported a great cause!

THE GREEN BARN

At present, the lack of permanent covered space significantly limits activity at the Nature and Wellbeing Centre during the winter months, periods of heavy rain, and increasingly during extreme heat. The Green Barn will provide a permanent, all-weather covered activity space, enabling the site to be used safely, comfortably and consistently throughout the year.

We are also constrained by the capacity and unsuitability of our existing facilities as community demand grows. The Red Shed, which serves as the site’s community café and meeting space is increasingly overcrowded and has very limited capacity for workshops, events and larger group activities. It is frequently required to double as an activity space during poor weather, restricting its ability to function fully as a community café and social space as intended. The Green Barn will relieve this pressure, allowing the Red Shed to better fulfil its intended purpose while significantly increasing the site’s overall capacity.

Demand for using the site continues to increase from local residents, schools, community groups, charities and businesses. We regularly receive enquiries that we are currently unable to accommodate due to capacity constraints, limited all-weather provision and the absence of a suitable larger covered space. The Green Barn will enable us to respond to this demand, supporting greater community use while generating income that can be reinvested into maintaining and developing the site.

HOW DO I TAKE PART?

Register your place via our EventBrite page. Here, you can find out more about Stride for the Settlement, find FAQs, and select your place – either a 5k walk, 5k run, 10k walk, or 10k run.

Once you have signed up, you will receive a confirmation email from EventBrite. Within this email, you will find a link to set up your JustGiving page which we are using to fundraise for the event. Alternatively, you can click the button below to start fundraising, or if you would like to make a donation.

If you prefer to fundraise in person, you can pick up a paper sponsorship form from the Red Shed at the Nature & Wellbeing Centre. Or, click the link below for a copy you can print out yourself.

There is no minimum amount we expect you to fundraise for us – every penny counts and we are extremely grateful for your support! We are a charity that relies solely on donations from the public, trusts and foundations, and the sale of goods – all that we raise goes straight back into our work in the community. All funds raised from Stride for the Settlement will go towards building our Green Barn activity space, expected to be completed in 2027.
