We’re over the moon that our Nature & Wellbeing Centre has made the shortlist for the annual Riba Journal MacEwen Award, joining an inspiring collection of 12 projects embodying architecture for the common good.
Recognition was given for the bold vision and sustainable design of the Red Shed Community Café, which is constructed primarily of clay blocks, timber and cellulose insulation, creating a new form of low-carbon masonry wall build-up. This is combined with airtight construction, mechanical ventilation and ground-source heat pumps with boreholes sufficient for future phases.
It’s a real privilage to be amongst the shortlist of such inspiring, progressive projects with people, communities and sustainability at their heart.
Thanks to Rob from Axis Design Architects for all the hard work!
