The Masonic Charitable Foundation is giving away £3 million to 300 charities across England and Wales to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the United Grand Lodge of England. It’s up to the public to decide which charities get the largest grants through an online vote at https://mcf.org.uk/region/warwickshire/.
As part of the celebrations, Birmingham Settlement is in with the chance of receiving a grant of up to £25,000 to support our work in Birmingham.
Help us win up to £25,000 by voting in the MCF Community Awards at https://mcf.org.uk/region/warwickshire/
What we will do with the grant…
We will use this grant to support the work taking place at our Hub in East Birmingham. Our Hub acts as a focal point for the local community, providing facilities and resources to foster community activity and bring residents together. We offer employment support, money advice, coffee mornings, music workshops for young people and access to information, advice, workshops and training. With the support of volunteers and community groups we run weekly activities offering a welcoming, friendly environment through which people can come together to combat local issues whilst helping people develop on a personal level. Activities open up new opportunities enabling people to gain skills and increase their self-confidence and motivation to address personal and community challenges.
The more votes we get, the bigger grant we could secure. £4,000 would enable us to run over 70 activity and training sessions for the local community whilst £6,000 would pay for over 100, ensuring we can keep supporting the local community to come together and overcome disadvantages, social exclusion, isolation and other issues they themselves identify as important.
With £25,000 we could offer someone in Birmingham the opportunity to develop their career and be part of our team as a Trainee Community Action Worker. If we win £25,000 we will be able to offer this as a full time post for 12 months and fund over 60 activity and training sessions for the local community. With £15,000 we could fund this post for 3 days and run over 40 sessions. If we win £15,000 or £25,000, we will be able to help more people in Birmingham and run more activities helping people transform their lives and the local community.
