Remembering Lea Village is a small community group led by local people who want to remember and reinvigorate the community spirit in Lea Village. Over the last few months, Remembering Lea Village have come together to start bringing Lea Village back to life. Their first step was to arrange a community trip to the Gloucester Victorian Market which took place last Friday. With travel arranged, our coach set off from Kitts Green Church, stopping off in Aston to pick up more day trippers
who were joining us from our Aston Hub. Everyone was looking forward to getting into the festive spirit and getting a spot of Christmas shopping ticked off their to do lists.
With more than 250 stalls and producers selling a wide range of locally produced fo od, drink, gifts, jewellery and lots more, set in the impressive surroundings of the Gloucester Quays and historic Victorian dockside, this really was a fantastic way to soak up the festive atmosphere in style.
A great day was had by all with lots of Christmas presents and treats being shown off on the journey home. But it wasn’t all about shopping, there was also the chance to meet larger than life Dickensian characters and entertainers, enjoy brass bands and choirs and, for some, even a ride on the traditional carousel and Ferris wheel!
