
Our Skills for Work programme supports local people from deprived areas who want to get into the job market - including many who have been long-term unemployed. Our facilities at the Centre for the Aston Family combined with outreach work improve their chances with advice and training which helps them to secure jobs successfully.
The project gives people of all ages and backgrounds the skills and confidence they need through a creative engagement programme which includes:
- initial goal-setting sessions
- one-to-one advice
- written action plans
- access to staff with community languages
- advice on a full range of employment support programmes
- confidence-building support
- access to employment vacancies
- CV preparation and interview technique advice
- access to telephone, photocopier, fax and computer for job search
- access to the internet
We also help around five hundred clients each year with opportunities through support mechanisms provided by local partners including:
- customised training linked to jobs
- vocational training
- core skills training
employment support programmes (New Deals, Employment Zone, Action Team for Jobs)
