The Community Facilitators Project was developed to address the rising tensions between groups of young people, and between different ethnic minority communities within inner city neighbourhoods of north west and east Birmingham. We aim to alleviate tensions and to contribute to harmonious community relations through fourteen local Community Facilitators and a strong network of local community organisations.
The Community Facilitators work to bring together local people to foster dialogue about local grievances or misunderstandings which are threatening good community relations. They prevent the growth of community resentments, encourage the search for positive solutions, create the space for people to discuss their differences, and help local communities to tackle and resolve conflicts.
