Female Sports Coach Required

Birmingham Settlement tackles social disadvantage by working with individuals and communities to help them to gain the skills, confidence and the support they need to overcome life’s challenges. Our youth programme offers a range of activities for under 25s which aim to improve mental and physical wellbeing, reduce isolation and support young people to increase their aspirations and achieve their goals.

Having trialled a sports programme targeting young people, we are planning to deliver a sports programme aimed at young women from in and around Aston, Birmingham.

We are looking for a female sports coach to work on a sessional self-employed basis to deliver 12 sessions (term time only), each lasting 1 hour to young women aged 18 to 25. The sessions will help young women, especially those who are currently inactive, get engaged in sports and try new activities. These sessions will most likely run on Tuesday mornings from 2nd May to 25th July and will be delivered in Aston, most likely from our centre on Witton Road.

We are looking for an experience female sports coach who is confident at instructing groups and who will be able to get individuals who perhaps haven’t engaged in sports much before, interested and involved. To give participants the chance to try a range of activities we would ideally like the Coach to deliver different activities (e.g. Zumba, fitness, running utilising the local park or walking football) and give participants the chance to help shape the sessions by suggesting activities to try. The Coach will be required to plan and facilitate the sessions and support with basic administration (e.g. completing registration and attendance forms and pre/post evaluation forms).

We will promote the sessions and provide the room and refreshments. We also have some equipment available including table tennis tables, boxing and sparring equipment and athletics equipment (e.g. vests, stopwatches, ladders, markers and footballs) and a PA system.

A DBS check will need to be carried out unless a portable DBS is provided.

Please contact us for initial enquiries. You might find it useful to include:

  • Your CV or other information about your skills and experience.
  • Which sports / fitness sessions you teach.
  • Indication of your hourly or per session rate if you charge a set fee.
  • You may wish to include links to a website, Facebook page or YouTube channel if you have these.
